Maria Julia Mantilla was born in Trujillo, a city on the north coast of Peru.
At the time, she was studying to become a High School Teacher, but also planned to start a second career in Tourism in order to help promote all the interesting places of her hometown, which has the biggest archaeological monument on the coast of Peru, CHANCHAN, a city made of sand.
